Burnett, Ronald James Paul – Passed away unexpectedly at the Lennox & Addington County General Hospital on Monday, November 2, 2020 at the age of 81. He will be deeply missed by his wife Marie Winter-Burnett of 44 years. Cherished father of Randy Burnett of Colebrook, Pamela Burnett of Kingston and Patricia Hartmann of Kingston. Beloved brother of Tom Burnett (Barb) of Sydenham, Gordon Burnett (Carol) of Napanee and Jackie Dreffs (Aylmer) of Manitoba. Predeceased by his parents Carl and Eva Burnett and siblings Robert Burnett (Delores), Joy Alexander (Sam), Linda Rowell (David) and Harvey Burnett (Eleanor). Ron will be sadly missed by his grandchildren Tyler Burnett and Justin Hartmann as well as several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends.
Ron was born and raised in Kingston with his 7 brothers and sisters. From a young age Ron became an avid stock car and derby racer at McAdoo’s in Kingston. In the early 1970’s he started Roadway Auto where he was the owner and operator. Ron was well known as a transmission specialist and received several awards from General Motors for his knowledge and expertise. Over the years the business grew and he expanded into towing and recovery. In the early 2000’s, Ron decided to sell the business and pursue his love of travel. He also loved being outdoors and fishing even though he was known to “throw a rod or two”.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Milestone Funeral Center, Northbrook. Cremation has been performed and a Celebration of Ron’s life will be held at the Strathcona Paper Center on Thursday, November 12, 2020. Space is limited as Covid-19 rules apply.
