Ronald’s Obituary
Kenney, Ronald Frederick -It is with great sadness that the family of Ronnie Kenney announces his passing on October 31, 2020 at the age of 89. He was born in Clark’s Harbour, on October 13, 1931, son of Charles and Evelyn (Nickerson) Kenney. He was predeceased by his wife of 62 years Ruth (Stoddard). Ronnie was a fisherman from an early age, growing up on Seal Island. Ronnie loved what he did and was always willing to lend a helping hand to his fellow fishers. He made many trips to Seal Island taking bird watchers and visitors. Throughout the years you would find him on Seal Island repairing the wharf and skid way, in a backhoe, at low tide, removing rocks that storms brought in to the end of the wharf and working diligently on the church to keep it in good repair. Visiting during his elderly years was one of his greatest joys. Ronnie was an active member of his community. He served as councillor and mayor. He was instrumental in the forming of the Fishermen’s Haven and New Horizon’s Senior Building. He was an original crew member of the Coast Guard 101 stationed in Clark’s Harbour. He was also a member of the N.S. Fisheries Loan Board. Ronnie was always known for his kindness and caring way. Ronnie is survived by sons Clay (Genevieve), Charles (Tammy), Wade (Anna), grandchildren Chris, Samantha (Jason), Adam (Lyndsey), and Chelsea. 22 great grandchildren, 9 great great grandchildren. He was predeceased by brother Jackie, and sisters Annie, Minnie, and Geneva and stepson Phillip Stoddard. He is survived by sisters Ethel. Verna, and Linda. The family would like to extend their special thanks for the constant loving care provided by the staff at Bayside Home. Visitation will be on Tuesday 6-8pm at Huskilson’s Funeral Home. Funeral will be held on Wednesday at 2 pm at the Stone Church in Clark’s. Family flowers only. Interment at Oakvale Cemetery, Clark’s Harbour. Donations in Ronnie’s memory may be made to Oceanview Christian Academy or charity of your choice.The family would like to thank all of their family and friends for their support throughout this difficult time.
