Ronald’s Obituary
Jenkins, Ronald Doane- 85, Port Clyde, passed away peacefully on Saturday September 5th with his wife Rita at his side. Born in La Chute, Quebec, Ron was the youngest son of the late Frank and Beulah (Madden) Jenkins. Ron was educated in Nova Scotia and Ontario. He was a Commissioned Officer in the Royal Canadian Air Force. Ron always wanted to fly airplanes and he got his wish. He logged in many hours on a variety of air craft from Chipmunk, Harvard, Silver Star and Sabres, float planes and other small planes. He went fishing for a time and worked in the Municipal Government from 1963-1967 and was Regional Director of Assessment for Shelburne and Queens county until he retired in October 1994. Ron co-founded the Port La Tour Fire Department and was First Commanding Officer of the Barrington Air Cadet Squadron. He sat on the Board of Directors of the Shelburne Golf and Country Club in the 1960’s, was a Charter member of the Port Clyde Fire Department, as well as a member of the Shelburne and Area Industrial Commission in the 70’s. Ron loved to hunt and fish. Later in life, he discovered a love for Music. He enjoyed Bluegrass and Country, Gospel, Jazz and Swing. Ron also enjoyed painting especially the Bluenose and other nautical scenery. Ron is survived by his wife Rita of 37 years, his two step-sons, Blair ( Rachel and grandson Reed), Johnadam “Jake” (Roxanne and grandchildren; Benjamin, Bella, Jesse, Lacey and Kenzie) as well as nieces and nephews living in Ontario. He is also survived by his first wife of eighteen years, Mary Cunningham. He was predeceased by his parents, sister Florence and a brother Bernard. Cremation has taken place under the direction of H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Homes & Crematorium Limited. A Family Service will take place at a later date.
