Memorial Donation
PICHÉ, Roland Joseph
With heavy hearts, the family of Roly Piche announce his passing at Health Sciences North Hospital, Sudbury, on Saturday, September 19, 2020, at the age of 71. Adored husband to the late Caroline (Penner). Beloved son of the late Théodore Piché and Roméa Bois. One of 10 children, Roly’s surviving siblings are
Estelle Cameron (Mac – deceased) of Strathroy; Jeannine Chenier (Claude – deceased) of Sudbury; Harvey (Suzanne – deceased) of Espanola; Maurice (Noella – deceased) of Montreal; Frank (Lucette) of Blind River; Richard (Françoise) of Sudbury. Predeceased by siblings, Gabrielle Yocum (Jim – deceased), Ronald (Theresa – deceased), Bernadette Laurin. Many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews also survive. Godfather to Mathieu Roland Piché (Michele) of Kanata. Special friend to Allan and Natalie Boucher, Aurora; Eva Mayer, Sudbury; and Nhat Nguyen of Washington, DC. A loving global community of dear friends share in the family’s loss. Roly lived life to the fullest and brought joy to everyone he met. Music was at the core of who he was and when he wasn’t playing music, he was always entertaining. He was a kid at heart and never lost touch with a child’s view of the wonder of the world. Kids were drawn to him (and him to them) because he shared their experience of the world as one of happiness and pure joy. Roly’s zest for life was contagious and his talents were as varied as his passions. He was a gourmet cook, an avid collector, a world traveller, a baseball fan, a theatre lover, a movie buff, the ultimate Disney fan (and he loved a good slot machine too). He was the pickiest foodie ever. He was generous. He was kind. He was talented. He was loved. He will be fondly remembered and forever missed. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Jude Roman Catholic Church, Espanola on Wednesday, September 30, at 11:00 am with Father Gilles officiating. Interment of ashes in the Espanola Cemetery. Covid-19 protocols are in effect, including limiting church attendance to 60 persons prioritized for immediate family, and interment attendance of 25 persons. An online tribute to Roly, including a recording of the mass, will be broadcasted on Sunday, October 04. Further details will be made available at www.facebook.com/groups/rolypichetribute/. If so desired, memorial tributes may be made to St. Jude RC Church, or The Children’s Wish Foundation. Arrangements by BOURCIER FUNERAL HOME LTD., Espanola.
