Robert Shawn Barrett Tuesday October 20th 2020

Robert Shawn Barrett
July 27, 1973 – October 20, 2020
Heaven gained an angel on October 20, 2020 as our son, brother, uncle and father went home to be with the Heavenly Father. Robert passed away at Toronto General Hospital surrounded by the love of his family. Son of Carol Barrett (Orest) and Bob Barrett (Donna). Brother of Billie Jo Barrett and Ryan Barrett. Uncle of Marlee Moscati and father to the love of his life Kinsley Lynn Barrett.
Robert knew life would be short from an early age due to his congenital heart condition. He never took anything for granted and lived each day to the fullest. Robert had his struggles along the way but he was nothing short of a fighter. The way he died is just like the way he lived: he wrote his own rules, he fought authority and he paved his own path. He lived 1000 years in the 47 calendar years.
Anyone who knew Robert knew he had a generous heart, an infectious smile and a charismatic personality. As much as people knew hanging out with him could possibly end in a night in jail or a killer hangover, he was the type of guy that people would drive 16 hours at the drop of a dime to come see.
He loved his sports and spent a lot of time talking baseball with his momma and hockey with is sister. Oh, how he loved his Pro-Line and the OLG loved him equally.
Roberts’s hope was that his last adventure would be to rent a RV and travel through Western Canada with his sister, niece and daughter where he spent many years and was most at peace. Although Robert won’t be able to go on this trip, his family have every intention on living out his dream. He will be with them in their hearts.
Those we love
don’t go away,
they walk beside us
every day.
Unseen, unheard
but always near,
so loved, so missed,
so very dear.
A private family service will be held at the Bowmanville Cemetery on Tuesday October 27 2020 at 3 p.m. Following the service a drive pass will take place at 3:30 p.m. on Haines Street (south of King Street). Vehicles taking part in the drive by for condolences are not permitted to enter the cemetery.
If so desired donations can be made to either The Hospital for Sick Children, The Ronald McDonald House (Toronto) or The Salvation Army (Thunder Bay Journey to Life Centre).
