Robert Edward Rogers
1938-2020
Jesus knew that you were suffering. He knew you were in pain. He saw
the road was getting rough, and the hills were hard to climb. He
closed your weary eyes and whispered, “Peace Be Thine.”
On Saturday, December 26, 2020, at the Saint John Regional Hospital,
Robert (Bob) Edward Rogers, age 82, of Saint John, peacefully went
home to Jesus after a valiant battle with a long illness. On August
24, 1938, he was born to the late Benjamin and Nelly Rogers in Saint
John, New Brunswick.
Bob married the love of his life, Lorraine Bernice Wright, on
September 5, 1959. They have four children and three
grandchildren.
Bob and Lorraine resided in Niagara Falls, Ontario, until 2001. While
in Niagara Falls, Bob and Lorraine were members of Niagara Worship
Center and enjoyed friends and fellowship as part of a church family.
Bob was a member of the Union of Millwrights and Machinist in
Ontario.
Bob made friends everywhere he went with the ability to talk with
anyone. He would remember a face but remembering a person’s name was
not his specialty. No matter your gender, if Bob did not recall your
name, he would call you “HON”!
He was an ardent lover of dogs. He enjoyed many pets’ company over the
years, namely, Dana, his beloved Rottweiler, Seeky, an Abyssinia cat,
and his present furry companion Orea a Mal-Shi.
Bob will be remembered for the love he had for his family and friends.
The most significant part of his heart was saved for his family. He is
survived by his wife, Lorraine, his children; Starr Flournoy (Timothy
Flournoy) of New Jersey, Robert “Bobby” Rogers (Mary Rogers)
of Ontario, Dawn O’Donoghue (Glen O’Donoghue) of New Brunswick, and
Celeste MacLennan (Marshall MacLennan) of New Brunswick; his
grandchildren; Jeremy Hooper, Zachery Lundy-Rogers and the apple of
his eye Skylar “Sky” Rogers, as well as several nieces,
nephews and his sister, Mary Boyd of Ontario. His brother, Harold
Rogers, predeceased him.
God looked around his Garden and found an empty space. Then he looked
down upon the earth and saw your tired face. He put his arms around
you, lifted you to rest. God’s Garden must be beautiful as he ONLY
TAKES THE BEST!
