Rita Josephine Gilbert, formerly of Walkerton, passed away at home Monday, September 14, 2020, in her 90th year. Beloved mother to Dennis and Penny (Steve) Eckenswieler both of Port Elgin. Proud grandma to Tyler, Sarah-Lily, Chris, Amy (Jason), Ashley (Ken), Lance (Anslea) and “GG” to Ryder, Lincoln, Nash, Jagger and Piper. Rita will be missed by her sister Mary Hehn of Kitchener and sister-in-law Anna Oehring of Walkerton.
Rita is predeceased by her husband Roy, siblings Irene Benninger, Joe Oehring, Andy (Doris) Oehring, Bill Oehring, Frances (Joe) Clancy, brother-in-law Alex Hehn, and her parents Alex and Mary (nee Diebold) Oehring.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 17, 2020 at Cameron’s in Walkerton. Visitors must be preregistered to attend either visiting or service. Limited spots available. Please visit Rita’s memorial page or contact Cameron’s (519-881-1273) A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 18, 2020 at Sacred Heart Church, Walkerton. Fr. Leszek Szczygiel officiating.
Private interment at Calvary Cemetery, Walkerton.
