McCosham – Rev. Bernard Benedict, O.M.I., passed away on March 21, 2020 at St. Vincent’s Langara, Vancouver BC. Fr. McCosham was born July 6, 1931 in Cornwall ON. He was Ordained to the Priesthood in the Congregation of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate, June 15, 1958 in Ottawa ON. He is predeceased by his parents, John Angus and Marcella (nee McGillis) McCosham and siblings: Phyllis, Donald, Larry, Frances, Steve and Catherine.
Fr. Bernie’s obediences included assignments in Alberta – Calgary, Edmonton, Provost & St. Albert; Ontario – Ottawa & Toronto; and in British Columbia – Chase, Duncan, Kamloops, Nelson, Penticton, New Westminster and Vancouver.
In compliance with government and health authority directives related to COVID-19, a Memorial Mass to celebrate Fr. Bernie’s life will be held at a future date.

  1. Father Bernie was an important part of our family life for over 45 years. He married us, baptized our children and married them. He celebrated the funeral mass for my late wife Brenda ( his niece) . He was much admired and loved by us all. He will be missed.
    He was a loving man and a good priest.
    Peace to him.
