Obituary
On April 25th 2020, Becca went to be with her Lord and Saviour.
On June 10th 1998, Rebecca Lauren Claire Dilkes was born to parents Bradley and Sally Dilkes in Sarnia Ontario. From the minute she was born we couldn’t imagine our lives without her. She was such a wonderful, welcomed member of our family, loved immediately by her two older sisters. They could never get enough of her. Becca fought all her life to keep up with them, never wanting to be left behind (and she wasn’t).
Becca moved from Sarnia to Waterdown in grade six. She graduated from WDHS in 2016 with honours. She started working at Taco Bell when she was fourteen years old and from there she became a lifeguard and aquatics instructor, working at the Waterdown YMCA for six years. She then moved on to be a lifeguard at Emerald Lake. Emerald Lake was her second home, spending four summers as a lifeguard. Becca earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Lakehead University this past month. Graduation was originally schedule for May, but Covid-19 has postponed this date. She truly loved the beauty and outdoor life of the Thunder Bay area but after four years of being away she was looking forward to moving back home to be with her sisters and parents. God made Colette, Camille and Becca sisters but hearts made them friends. Rebecca had the trip of a lifetime when she completed a nursing placement in New Zealand during January and February of 2020. For the past three summers Becca worked part time as a PSW at Alexander Place nursing home in Waterdown. Her love for the elderly was so tender. She treated each resident like her own grandparents.
She will be forever missed by her parents Bradley and Sally Dilkes, sister Colette Dilkes and fiancé Brent Groliker, sister Camille Dilkes and fiancé Michael Vandenberg. Granddaughter of Beppe – Shirley Miedema (Pake – Dick Miedema, deceased) and Granddaughter of Eric and Myrna Dilkes (Myrna – deceased). Beloved niece of Angela and Nick Gibbs (Cambridge), Betty and Bruce Witteveen (North Carolina), Margaret and Don Wulff (Orangeville), Carolin and Gord Conossen (BC); Kelly and Jack Bolding (New Hamburg). Loved by seventeen cousins, their spouses and their children.
Private family visiting hours will take place at KITCHING, STEEPE & LUDWIG FUNERAL HOME, 146 Mill St. N., Waterdown where a Funeral Service will be held with the family in attendance on Friday, May 1, 2020 at 11 a.m., Rev.
