Rachael (MacMullin) Bonnar
It is with broken hearts that we, the family, announce the passing of our dear and loving mother, sister, aunt and friend, Rachael Bonnar, age 80, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Mom received her wings Saturday, May 30, 2020, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital surrounded by her special granddaughter, private nurse and best friend Kelsie, and her daughter Norma.
Mom was born on April 12, 1940 in Sydney Mines to Daniel Sr. and Evelyn (Gardiner) MacMullin.
Mom went to work at a very young age to her first job at Martin MacDonald’s Grocery Store on Main St. in Sydney Mines as a cashier, where she worked for many years until the store closed. She then went to work for Howard ton at ton’s Dairy until he sold the store. After that she went to work at the Irving Car Wash in North Sydney until she retired. She made a lot of friends over the years.
Mom was an avid Bingo Player and anyone who knew her, knows she could be found playing Bingo, where she made a lot of friends. Her other passion was bowling at the Strand Bowling Alley in Sydney Mines where she bowled for many years.
Mom was survived by her only son Paul (Jennifer) and her only daughter Norma (Ken) Robertson, grandchildren; Kelsie Robertson (Justin), Kyle Robertson, and Cole Bonnar. Her sisters; Delores (Barry) Jessome, Theresa, Ann Marie (Wayne) King, Mae, Lorraine, and Kaye. Her Brothers; Andrew (Helen), Brian (Brenda), James (Stemmer) (Barbara), Wayne (Popeye). Sisters-in-law Norma Messenger and Martha Bonnar. Special Friends Jackie and Peggy Ginter who she loved dearly.
She was predeceased by her husband for many years Vincent (Gaber) Bonnar; her parents Daniel Sr. and Evelyn (Gardiner) MacMullin, her brothers; Alex, Danny, Kenneth, Georgie, and Gerald and brother-in-law Adrian Bonnar. Also predeceased by her special friends Dolly and Peter Wilson.
We would like to say thank you to all the Doctors and Nurses at the Palliative Care Unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Special Thank you to Holly and Susan for all you did for Mom.
