Queenie’s Obituary
ATWOOD, Queenie Thelma – 93, With heavy hearts we are announcing the passing of our mom, Queenie Atwood of Roseway Manor, Shelburne formerly of Barrington, she passed peacefully with her daughters by her side. She had a heart of gold and was always taking care of others. She loved to attend sporting events that her family was part of including Beaver Dam Sports Meets, ball, hockey, basketball, figure skating and curling. She loved to travel and went on many bus trips, attended jamborees, loved to spend time at Goose Lake to the camp, as well as camping at Hibernia and Louis Head. This strong, independent hardworking lady has worn many hats and wore them well. She started her working career at age 15 beginning at Hogg’s Store and then Maritime Tel. & Tel. before she was married; Disco (later named Foodland) in the meat dept.; Wilson’s Shopping Center in the dry goods dept.; Dan’s Ice Cream Shop; and Sable Fish Packers. She was owner & manager of Atwood’s Grocery and later Seagull Ceramics. Everything she did, she did wholeheartedly. She loved to celebrate life as seen by many with her decorated lawn, for all holidays, seasons and interesting topics. She leaves behind her much loved family, sons, J. Peter Atwood, H. Stephen Atwood (Jerry); daughters, Sharon V. Besozzi, Carole Greenwood (Morgan); grandchildren, Davis Atwood (Nicole), Denise Reashore (Curt), Darcy Atwood, Troy Dixon, Deven Besozzi (Julie), Melissa Atwood, Amanda Besozzi Malone (Shane), Cody Greenwood (Julia); great-grandchildren, Candice, Dezaray, Lucas, Kayleb, Carlee, Melody, Mataya, Kazlyn, Jovi, Genevieve, Morgan, Clarissa, River, Marlyn; sister-in-law, Carol Smith (Ross); many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews including special niece Pam. She was preceded by father, Randolph C. Smith; mother, Daisy B. Smith(Meiser); husband, Ralph E. Atwood (Creamer); companion, Foster Towner; brothers, Winston C. Smith, Jack (John) H. Smith, Ross E. Smith; sister-in-laws, Edith Smith , Norma Smith. A Heart felt thank you to the wonderful compassionate staff at Roseway Manor. You are amazing people. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of H.M. Huskilson Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Barrington. No funeral by mom’s request. A private family graveside service will take place when such gatherings are permitted. Donations in her memory can be made to: SouWest Nova Transit Assoc., Roseway Manor, Ralph (Creamer)Atwood Memorial Ballfield, Barrington Regional Curling Club or charity of your choice.
