Obituary of Phyllis Marie Cosman
Phyllis Marie Cosman, 92, of Avonport, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2020 in Wolfville Nursing Home. Born in Ostrea Lake, she was the daughter of the late Robie MacLeod and Hilda Grant.
Nanny loved the beach, art, folk-art, pickling and raising her family. She loved camping. Nanny always had a good supply of Juicy Fruit gum and homemade popsicles for her grandchildren. Nanny enjoyed making art, mainly her folk-art woodcarvings, where she attended folk festivals in Lunenburg and Blockhouse. Her work is displayed at Upper Clements Park, The Blacksheep Gallery (Mahone Bay), and pictures of her work were featured in many editions of O Canada Crossword puzzle books.
The Art Gallery of Nova Scotia purchased some of her work in 1995.
Phyllis is survived by sons Bradford (Lorna) Cosman, Eastern Passage; Randall Cosman, New Minas; sister Pauline (Bernard) MacGregor, Greenwich; grandchildren Amy (Kirt), Habitant; Andrea (Jason), Middle Dyke Road; Tracy (Tim), British Columbia; great-grandchildren Anderson; Sylvie; Emma; Jemika; Mason; Aiden; Emily, and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Phyllis was predeceased by her husband Lawrence Willis; sons Michael and Kevin; brothers Parker, Burris and Alden.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial donations may be made to Wolfville Nursing Home. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr., Coldbrook, NS, B4P 1B9 (902-679-2822).
