Obituary
It is with broken hearts the family of Phyliss Marie McConnell Mont announce her passing which occurred on Saturday May 23rd, 2020 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born March of 1931 in New Glasgow, NS; she was the daughter of the late Dougal Alexander and Myrtle Irene (Meister) Brown. Phyliss was the kindest most loving soul, she gave of herself to the church and community full heartedly, was a member of the Westfield United Church, UCW, Red Hatter’s and the River Valley Garden Club. Phyliss was an excellent seamstress, ceramic crafter, painter, woodcrafter, avid gardener and she most enjoyed holding events for the entire family to attend. She was the matriarch and center of the family. They will hold her memory close their hearts and continue to spread joy and warmth in her honour and memory.
Phyliss was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Her smile, beauty and hugs will forever be warmly remembered by her daughters Donna Heather White of Pouce Coupe, BC, Debra Ann Bathgate and Diane McConnell both of Saint John; precious grandchildren Sherri, Shane (Jennifer), Keenan, Alaurea and Molly (Jason); great-grandchildren Logan, Wyatt, Sierra and Miika; brother-in-law Jimmy, sister in law Dorothy, friend and former son-in-law Gary Davidson; best friends Patsy, Wilma, Debbie and Vicki; nieces, nephews and friends. Along with her parents, Phyliss was predeceased by her first husband Donald Stephen McConnell in 1986; second husband Marshall Mont in 2009; son Colin Tammas McConnell and daughter Darlene McConnell and her brother Donald Brown.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). Due to the current pandemic restrictions. A celebration of Phyliss’s life will be held at a later date at Westfield United Church. Time to be announced. In lieu of flowers donations in Phyliss’s memory can be made to the Westfield United Church, 133 Nerepis Road Grand Bay-Westfield E5K 2Z3 or to the charity of the donor’s choice. The family has asked that in these uncertain times for those who knew and loved Phyliss to plant something beautiful or to laugh extra loud in her honour- that’s what Phyliss would have wanted.
The family would like to take this opportunity to thank staff and friends at Chateau de Champlain, Jones Home Care; Dr. Bewick and his assistant Rhonda; All Doctors, Nurses and Staff of 3CS and frontline workers. For their care and compassion shown at this difficult time.
