  1. Peter was my English teacher at Caledonia Highschool. I adored him, he made Shakespeare fun and opened our eyes to the lyrics in rock songs and made it so interesting and fun to go to class. He was, especially at that time in the seventies, outrageous and one of a kind! We needed more like him. He is honestly the teacher I have talked about the most throughout my life. I met him years later, when I was an adult and it was an immediate joy to see him again. He was so unchanged, still the same sense of humour, still outrageous and I continued to adore him. I know that I am not alone in being a student that he left a lasting, positive, wonderful impression on. He will be missed.

  2. Peter was the teacher who inspired me to go on in English. He was so self-possessed and assured, a complete role model. I admired him greatly, and I know almost all of my classmates (in the mid 1970s) admired him too. This is a great loss, and I send my sympathies to the Hill family.

  3. Peter Hill is gone! I just now read his obituary and am so shocked and saddened. Like his former student Christine Robinson (Howe) wrote, I also adored him. He had 100%star quality with yes. a kind of large, wonderful, pithy personality that complimented his academic talents. He was my mentor and friend and I always felt I could talk with him about just about anything. And yes he was witty and made me laugh when I needed it most. Peter hired me to teach English at Caledonia High School shortly after I graduated from University in the early 80’s. Although we only worked together for a year Peter was so encouraging and constantly inspiring. I shall always be grateful to Peter for his expertise, kindness and help with the Intermediate English Course Mr Coons made me take at U of T the summer before I started working at Caledonia High School. To his loving family and many friends please accept my sincere and deepest sympathy. Peter was an original. When we look up at the Heavens there will surely be an extra shiny star there now!
