Patricia M. Flanagan
1929 – 2020
Patricia Mary Flanagan of Napan passed away at the Miramichi Regional Hospital on Friday, January 24th, 2020 at the age of 90.
Born in Chatham on April 14, 1929, she was the eldest daughter of the late John A. and Elizabeth (Fitzpatrick) Flanagan. With the premature deaths of her parents, Pat bore many household responsibilities including helping to care for her younger siblings and her uncle Frank. In Grade 8 she had the top marks in the district in the school written examinations. Unfortunately, she did not have the opportunity to attend high school. She was a dedicated employee in the Food Services department at the Hotel Dieu Hospital for twenty-five years. She was known for her attention to detail and ensuring everything was done just right. Pat was a faithful and devoted member of the Roman Catholic Church and attended St. Michael’s Basilica.
Pat was loved and supported by her neighbours in Weldfield and the family is particularly grateful to Martha Moran and family who were cherished neighbours, friends, and caregivers for many years.
Pat is survived by fourteen nieces and nephews and their children. She was predeceased by her parents, her partner Vincent (Terry) Moran, three sisters Marie Hackett, Carmel MacKnight and Margaret Walls and one brother Joseph.
By request there will be no visitation. Mass of Christian burial will be held at Adams funeral Home, 140 King St., Miramichi, on Monday, January 27, 2020 at 11 am with Father John Fraser as Celebrant. Interment will be held in St Michael’s Cemetery later in the spring.
