Obituary
OPAL BURLA (BOURGEOIS) RYAN
It is with great sadness we said good bye to our Mom, Granny, and Great Grandmother (GeeGee) April 19, 1926- April 26, 2020
Burla is survived by her only daughter Bonnie and husband Doug Willis, a grand daughter Shannon (Willis) Haig, and 5 great grand children, Connor, Alex, Dawson, Brayden and Eliza Haig. Pre deceased by her only grandson Steven Willis in 1995. Her parents Opal Katherine (Hunter), Eugene Joesph, her two brothers Eugene Cache, and Robert Gates, (Bob) BOURGEOIS.
Burla, lived in many parts of BC throughout her life time.
Born in Williams Lake and living in Forest Grove, Canim Lake, and Lac La Hache (Blackwater) in her younger years. Burla spent some of her middle aged years in Duncan and Enderby, and finally settling in her retirement years in Maple Ridge. While growing up, music was a very big part of her life, as both herself, her mother and brother Bob all played the piano. Family get togethers always included a good old sing along around the piano. She loved to dance, play the piano, electric organ and accordion.
She enjoyed country living and all the benefits that came with it from hard work on the farm. She loved animals and being an avid rider when she was young, she loved horses, dogs and cats.
At the age of 88 she moved to Mission to be closer to family and lived at the Cedars, Assisted Living.
BURLA was very lucky to have lived to a grand age of 94 and for the most part until March of this year was very healthy and mobile.
We miss you mom.
In lieu of flowers to the family a donation to the cancer clinic in her grandsons name would be greatly appreciated.
A memorial will be held at a later date to remember Burla.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Opal Burla Ryan April 26 2020..
