Obituary for
Oliver Charles William Prouse
Oliver Charles William Prouse was born May 6, 1938 at the Hill Peak Teacherage North East of Kelvington. He passed away early morning June 2, 2020.
He was the first Son and 8th Child of his parents Oliver and Ruth. With 12 children in the household he grew up with a full house. Always busy he learned to work hard from a young age.
Oliver married Connie Clark December 11, 1965. Oliver knew the first time he saw Connie she was the one. From the marriage, three sons: Wade, Dale, and Ryan were born, raised and loved. Anyone that came to the Prouse house was welcomed and always felt at ease and at home.
Oliver left school after grade 8 like many of his generation and started a long life filled with many work experiences. Gronsdahl Motors, cutting shakes and setting chokers in BC, Farm laborer, Business owner, Golf course worker.
Oliver is survived by his wife of 54 years Connie. His three sons Wade (Nadine Possberg) and grandsons Jaxon, Luke and granddaughter Sawyer. Dale (Crystal Bashforth) grandchildren Mason, Mackenzie and Riley. Ryan (Tammy Pantiuk) and granddaughter Lexi. His sisters Violet Robinson, Beatrice Keys, Gladys Hendren, Ruth Gwilliam, Dorothy Minor, Myrtle Wagner, Edna Wagner, Isabelle (Morris) McClement, Nadine (Dale) Swindells, Brother Russel (Lorraine) Prouse, brother in law (Gale) Clark, sister in law Heather (Delore) Cayen and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Connie Gustus.
Special thanks to the Kelvington ambulance staff and all the fantastic care he received from the Kelvington Hospital and Staff.
Oliver was happiest when he was with his family, working at the farm and garden, fishing and going to auction sales with Curtis. He was a gifted mechanic and was often called on for advice. We can’t forget his love of Massey Ferguson – especially his 230 tractor.
Oliver leaves behind countless children who will miss him and his endless silly stories. Oliver always made sure his boys got to hockey practices and games in addition to any other teammate. He made sure all had equipment and a warm meal. These hours later became invested in his grandchildren’s numerous interests. He was a generous man loving to share his garden produce and the head cheese he made. Oliver will live on now, passing not only his stature but also his personality and abilities to his own sons. He will truly be missed by all of us.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Oliver Charles William
