Obituary
SKWARA: Norman Rudolph. It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our dear husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend on Tuesday, December 24, 2019 in Brandon, Manitoba. Born in North Battleford, Norm lived in Hafford, Saskatchewan as a child before relocating to Valley River, Manitoba and then Grandview five years later. After attending high school in Grandview, Norm moved to Winnipeg in 1960. On June 26, 1965, Norm and Silvia wed back in their hometown of Grandview. In 1966 they moved to Flin Flon, Manitoba where Norm was employed by Hudson Bay Mining and Smelting and SaskPower. Flin Flon was home for thirty years as they raised their two children, Randeen and Jason. In 1981, Norm left Hudson Bay and completed his working years with SaskPower in Creighton, Saskatchewan yet the family remained in Flin Flon a few miles away. In 1996 Norm and Silvia retired and moved to Brandon. The outdoors was always a place that Norm enjoyed immensely. Whether it was warm summers filled with camping, fishing, and waterskiing or frigid winters enjoying snowmobiling, hunting, and ice fishing; Norm was right at home. So too, Norm was right at home with a hammer on his hip and a tape measure in his hand. A self-taught carpenter, Norm never backed away from a challenge. He built homes for his family and friends. Homes where fond memories were born. Homes that to this day are shared among complete strangers, creating memories for their own families, yet all are still the house that Norm built. Norm was predeceased by his parents Rudolph and Pauline (nee Cewick) Skwara, and sister Veronica (nee Skwara) Britton. Left to mourn his passing are his beloved wife Silvia, children Randeen and Jason, grandchildren Jenna and Ethan, sister Judy (Lorne), brother-in-law Dennis (Lil), and many nieces and nephews. The ceremony to celebrate Norman’s life was held at Memories Chapel, Brandon on Monday, December 30, 2019. Donations in memory of Norman may be made to Western Manitoba Cancer Centre, 150 McTavish Avenue East, Brandon, MB R7A 2B3.
