Norma Irene Farrington
February 16, 1931 – June 24, 2020
Peacefully at Hallowell House on Wednesday, June 24, 2020. Norma Farrington (nee Davy), of Picton, formerly of South Bay and Kingston, at the age of 89.
Norma grew up in Kingston, the oldest of 3 children. At age 20, she met Dave. She was a Bell Telephone Operator and he was a Serviceman at the Naval Barracks. They “met” on the phone and he liked the sound of her voice. She travelled the world with Dave as a military wife, finally settling back in Prince Edward County. Norma worked at Proctor-Silex, The Hub Restaurant, and Dan’s Taxi. She also worked with Dave as a commercial fisherman after he retired from the military.
Loving wife to the late David. Adored & devoted mother to Jeff (Kim) of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and Lori (Mark) of Picton. Loved sister to Lola & Bill (Dot) of Kingston. She will be sadly missed by her grandsons, Quinn & James, whom she loved dearly. Predeceased by her parents, Thelma & Ford Davy and Jack Coyle. Loved sister-in-law to Bob (the late Selina), Dan (Sharron), and the late Cecil (Annie), Elsie Mullock (Eric) and Emma Lancaster (Ray). Missed by her many nieces & nephews and “adopted grandson” Bradley. Special thanks to the staff at Hallowell House. The family will be forever grateful for the care and attention she received there in the last year.
Donations can be made to the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital “Back the Build” Fund.
Mrs. Farrington is resting at the Whattam Funeral Home, 33 Main St., Picton, ON. The family will receive friends on Friday, July 3 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. Masks are mandatory and social distancing rules will apply. There will be a private family service on Saturday morning.
