NORMA MANALO (‘OMY’) CHIU
With great sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of Norma (aka ‘Omy’) in the hospital on Sunday, May 10, 2020, aged 88 years. Predeceased by her husband, Man On (Willie) Chiu.
Loving mother of Marinilla Evelyn (Danny Carreon), Noli, Nilo, Peter, Wilma-Moy, Josephine-Joy and Olivia-Ivy (Bechie Gamulo). Beloved grandmother of Darrell (May Houri-Carreon), Cyra (Sonny Kim), Erin, Christine, Katrina, Camille, William Cyrian, Kennedy, Marlo Louis and Christian. Cherished great-grandma of Layla Yim, Madalayna Christine & Mayson William. Will be sadly missed by relatives and friends worldwide.
Mom’s well known in the Filipino community for her friendliness & charming smile. She was a funny-loving person & a great cook. She won the “Super Lola”(grandma) competition in Ottawa years ago & was “1990-1991 Avon Canada President’s Club” recipient. Known as the “original dancing queen” of the family, mahjong & casino “lady luck” and the “life of the party.”
Thank you so much to GP Dr. Denis Cheung who looked-after mom for years with loving care & the staff at Ottawa Civic Hospital for the great service.
Private mass and burial services will be held at the Pinecrest Cemetery, Ottawa, Ontario on Wednesday, May 13, 2020.
The family wishes to thank all who extended their overwhelming support, prayers, love, compassion and virtual hugs. Just by being here for all of us is not an important thing, it’s everything!!!
