Obituary of Nancy Valerie May Evans
It is with great sadness that the family of Nancy Valerie May (Kingston) Evans, cherished wife of Leon Evans, announces her sudden passing which occurred on December 26, 2020 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born on May 1, 1939, in Saint John, NB, she was the daughter to the late Alexa (Carter) and Harry Kingston.
Nancy was a member of Portland United Church and participated in the choir for many years. After staying home to raise her boys, she went to work at the Saint John Regional Hospital Admitting Department for 19 years where she went above and beyond to help others, retiring in 2004. In her spare time, she loved camping with her family and friends. knitting, reading, walking (especially to Lancaster Mall) and watching her children/grandchildren in their extracurricular activities.
Along with her husband of 59 years, Nancy is survived by her loving sons: Jeffrey (Ronda) Evans of Saint John, NB and their children: Ryan, Alyssa and Karly and David (Heather) Evans of Perry, NY and their children: Paige, Isaac, Carter and Mason. She is also survived by her brother Walter Kingston and his wife Marjorie, sisters-in-law: Anna Clare Best, Faith Kingston and Lois Kingston, brother-in-law: Norman McFarlane, and many special nieces and nephews.
Nancy was predeceased by her parents, her brothers: John, Ken (the late Connie Kingston), Malcolm and Reginald and sisters: Jean Titus (the late Raymond Titus), Helen Turner (the late Wilfred Turner), Phyllis Kane (the late Raymond “Buzzy” Kane), Elsie Kingston and Cynthia McFarlane.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424). There will be no visitation and a private family service will be held at Portland United Church. For those unable to attend, a live stream of the funeral can be found on Nancy’s obituary on Brenan’s website, beginning at 11:00 am on Thursday, December 31, 2020.
