Murray Nadel 2020

Murray Nadel
April 13, 1923 – May 27, 2020
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Murray Nadel on Wednesday, May 27, 2020, from COVID-19 at the age of ninety-seven. Devoted husband of the late Eleanor Nadel for forty-four years and the late Shirley Nadel for fifteen years. Beloved father and father-in-law of Ruth and Mel Shulman, Gail and Ray O’Connor. Much loved grandfather of Neil Shulman and Ilana Shulman; Erin, Elizabeth and Augustine Liam O’Connor. Adored great-grandfather of Curtis Whylie. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Adele Merker Jacobs and the late Ben Merker and the late Barney Jacobs, the late Leo and the late Lillian Nadel, the late Sylvia and the late Issie Melworm, and brother-in-law of Edith and the late Hyman Lifshitz Lifshitz. He will be sadly mourned by his nephews and nieces, as well as by his extended family and friends in Canada, the United States and Israel. He was a very special friend of Betty Youster and her family. Our family extends our thanks to Mona Hamburg for being more than a caregiver.
Murray was born in Passaic, New Jersey to the late Sarah (nee Goldfinger) and Samuel Nadel. He proudly served in the United States military during WWII and was honourably discharged. He was a member of the Knights of Pythias for over sixty years and was also a Past Chancellor of the Grand Lodge.
Murray was a gentleman, hardworking and modest. He always put his family first over himself. He made friends wherever he went due to his good nature and outgoing personality. Two major highlights of his life include his trip to Israel with Eleanor and travelling to Toronto by bus to attend his great-grandson’s bris. Special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff of 7 South at Maimonides Geriatric Centre for their outstanding care and devotion, especially Dr. Eski, Gina and Sonny. A private graveside service will take place. Shiva is strictly private. Donations in his memory may be made to the Donald Berman Maimonides Foundation, (514) 483-2121 ext.: 2207, or to a charity of your choice.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Murray Nadel 2020..
