Bowman, Murray James
Murray peacefully passed, with his family by his side, Sunday, July 12, 2020 at the CKHA-Chatham Campus at the age of 88.
Murray was born on Nov. 14th, 1931 in Blenheim, ON and was the son of the late Alexander and Jane (nee Murray) Bowman.
Beloved husband of the late Carol Ann Dorothy (nee Legros) Bowman (2016). Murray and Carol were married for 59 years.
Loving father of Linda Goldsmith (Doug), Jacqueline Massender (the late Donald) and Lee Ann Adam (Jeff).
Proud grandfather of Chantelle Hitchcock and Kyle Goldsmith, Brett and Brittney Massender, Kaila and Quintin Adam. Great grandfather of Alexis, Ella, Maisie, Hazel and Gage.
Dear brother of the late Sandy Bowman (Bonnie) and sister of the late Betty Bowman.
During the time Murray spent in Blenheim and Chatham he made many lifelong friends. He was actively involved in both communities with various organizations.
In March 1967 Murray and family moved to Chatham and operated the Bowman Funeral Home on Victoria Avenue.
Murray was a 50 year member of the Parthenon Masonic Lodge, member of the Scottish Right and Mocha Shrine, Honorary Member of Rotary Club of Chatham, past president of the Kinsmen Club of Blenheim and Co Chair of the Oxfam Walks, former member of the Victoria Avenue Church and a past member of the Lung Association and recognized for over 50 years as a licensed funeral director.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Kendrick Funeral Home- Chatham Celebration Centre, 4 Victoria Avenue, Chatham, ON, formerly the Murray Bowman Funeral Home, owned and operated by Murray and Carol.
Cremation has taken place. A private family Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Donations in memory of Murray can be made to the CKHA Foundation or Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation.
