Obituary of Muriel Viola Hotham
Hotham: Muriel Viola (Perritt), passed away gracefully in her home on Monday, December 14, 2020, while surrounded by her four children, at the age of 82. She is preceded in death by her sweet brother Wayne, her parents Harland and Viola Perritt and her first love Gerald Hotham. She will be deeply missed by her family Doug Hotham (Angie Fisher) of Dresden, Debra Hotham of Dresden, Sheryl Hotham (Steve Mason) of Fonthill , Kevin Hotham (Laura) of Welland. She has now become the guardian warrior angel of her five grandchildren: Ryan Hotham and Tyler Hotham of Dresden, Noah Wouthuis of Peterborough and Jordan and Alyssa Hotham of Welland. She was a dedicated grandmother to all her grandbabies. She never missed an opportunity to support them in whatever way she could and would travel great distances to be there for them. She will be sadly missed by her second love, best friend and her covid bubble Vernon Badder of Wabash. He was her sunshine and the person who made her smile every single day. Together they enjoyed attending church, going on long country drives, visiting friends and family, going to hockey games and spending time at her family cottage. Muriel will be remembered by her community for her generosity in faith, love, kindness, time and charity. She was a member of the Wabash Women’s Institute, Dawn Township Historical Society, Retired Women Teachers of Ontario, and was the Historian of the Community of Christ Church, Wabash. Muriel was a dedicated school teacher for 35 years, touching the lives of many children and their families. She was known for bringing joy to learning and making her classroom a safe and fun place for all children. She had a passion for the arts, especially anything that showcased the talent of children. If you were lucky enough, she would share with you, her own talents of playing the piano and painting. She was an advocate for women and women’s right around the world. She loved her farm life and spent many hours in her gardens surrounded by nature. She was a world traveller and never said no to an adventure with family and friends. Muriel’s family send heartfelt gratitude to her super care team, who treated our mom as they would their own, during her final weeks. Hugs to you all. “If God brings us to it, he will bring us through it”. The Hotham family will receive family and friends at the John C. Badder Funeral Home, 72 Victoria St., Thamesville on Friday evening from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm and Saturday 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm.
