MacKenzie, Millard F. (Mack), of Shelburne, Nova Scotia, died peacefully at home on Saturday, April 25th, 2020. Born in Pictou, Nova Scotia on May, 27th 1940, he was the son of Thomas and Alda MacKenzie (Seaman). Mack spent much of his professional career as a public servant for the Province of Nova Scotia working as a probation officer. He cared deeply for his colleagues and truly loved his work. He always did his best to support those who found themselves navigating the justice system. He was a fierce advocate for his fellow provincial employees and spent tireless hours negotiating on their behalf. Mack believed that as individuals we should always work for the betterment of our community. He was often elected to leadership roles in organizations he supported. He was passionate about helping others, no matter the situation. He was Deputy Governor and a Life Member of The Kinsmen Club of Canada and was Worshipful Master and District Deputy Grand Master of the Masonic Lodge. Mack was Warden of Christ Church in Shelburne and Holy Trinity Church in Yarmouth. Always an outdoor enthusiast, Mack enjoyed many trips with his friends into the Tobeatic and had many camping adventures with his family throughout Nova Scotia and Canada. Mack had a passion for being on the water that began at Sea Cadet camp. He later became a Sea Cadet Officer and Corp. leader in Shelburne, Nova Scotia. After recruiting his loving wife Sandie as the first mate, they spent many summers sailing aboard “Snowbird”, their 28 ft sloop in the waters of Shelburne Harbour and the coast of Nova Scotia. Mack felt things should be done right or not done at all. He believed in a family working together. He spoke with his hands and wouldn’t shy away from politics. He was a very well-read person. He enjoyed history, music, radio, boats & knots, working with leather, getting together with friends, trucks with wooden boxes, repurposing things and working in his workshop. Above all, he loved his family and never missed the opportunity to express how proud he was of all of them. Dad will be dearly missed and was a much-loved father and grandfather. He is survived by wife Sandra and brother Harris MacKenzie (Gayle). Children, Lisa (Al), Paul, Ann, Jason (Melissa) and Neil (Tasha). Grandchildren, Eliott, Chelsea, Alex, Ava, Spencer, Olivia and Angus. Mack is predeceased by his parents and brother Gregory. Cremation has taken place under the care of Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Shelburne. A Memorial Service will be announced at a later date. Donations can be made in memorial to the Southwest Nova Biosphere Reserve Association or charity of your choice. On-line condolences can be left for the family at www.huskilson.net
