Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we would like to announce the peaceful passing of Russell Court of Raymond, Alberta, beloved husband to Carole Snow, on May 25, 2020 at the age of 81 years.
Russell was born on October 18, 1938 in Raymond, Alberta. He married Norma Jean Dainard in July of 1959 and were happily married for 41 years until Norma’s passing in 2000. In 2002, Russell married Carole Snow and they remained together until the day of his passing.
Alongside Carole, Russell will be lovingly remembered by his sons Barry Court of Grand Prairie, Russell (Debra) Court of Raymond, Michael (Jennifer) Court of Okotoks, and Mitchel (Holly) Court of Elkford BC; nine grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; brothers Cameron (Diane) Court of Salt Lake City UT, and Bruce (Louise) Court of Taber.
Russell is predeceased by his first wife Norma Jean Court in 2000; daughter Karen Jean Court in 2011; brother Harris Court in 2019; sister-in-law Vicky Court in 2017; and his parents David and Doris Court.
Russell was born and raised in Raymond, AB, attending school there and continuing to work a short time at the Cardston Credit Union. After a short time away, Russell returned to Raymond to work at the Raymond Mercantile Co. managing numerous positions and becoming store Manager for many years. He ended up spending his career at the Merc Russell, eventually attaining ownership in 1995.
Russell served the community in various ways, including serving two terms as Town Councilor, and as a member of the Chamber of Commerce.
He was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, serving in various church positions over the years.
Russell was extremely devoted to his family, being a great example to his kids, grand kids, and future generations to come. His greatest pleasure in life was his family and spending time with them.
He was a very talented individual. Some of those talents included music (as a self-taught guitarist), wood working, and drawing. He had a passion for the Great Outdoors, including hiking, fishing, and camping. He especially loved horseback riding, which he would take his kids and grandkids on many adventures. These trips were enjoyed by all, and those memories will be cherished forever.
Russell’s kind, humble, gentle spirit will be missed by the Raymond Community and his family.
Friends may meet the family from 7:00-8:00 pm on Thursday, May 28, 2020 at Christensen Salmon Generations Funeral Home, 703-13 Street North, Lethbridge AB.
