The death of Michael George O’Shea of Boom Road, NB, husband of Betty (Dawson) O’Shea occurred at the Miramichi Regional Hospital on Friday, December 18th, 2020 at the age of 86.
Born in Boom Road, NB, Mike was the son of the late Burton and Delia (Young) O’Shea.
Mike was a member of Saint Thomas the Apostle Roman Catholic Church and was retired from UPM after 36 years of service.
Mike was an active member of the Island View Seniors and a Charter Member of the North and South Esk Lions Club. He was a recipient of the Melvin Jones Fellow Award for dedicated humanitarian services.
Mike loved nature and the outdoors. He received recognition from the New Brunswick Forestry Association acknowledging his contribution to forest stewardship and biodiversity conservation.
Above all else, Mike cherished time spent with family and friends.
Besides his wife Betty of 54 years, Mike is survived by son Danny (Darlene) of Miramichi; daughter Ellen (Andrew) of Woodstock, NB; sisters-in-law Doreen O’Shea (late James), Mary O’Shea (late Norman), brother-in-law Vernon Brooks (late Helen); sisters-in-law Margie MacDonald (late Norman), Patsy Holland (Vince), Merita MacMillan (Blake), and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Mike is predeceased by five brothers, William, Gerald, Fred, James, Norman, sister Helen, brother-in-law Paul Dawson (Betty) and sister-in-law Carmel Conkie (late Bill).
The family will receive visitors at Meadows Funeral Home, 150 Northwest Road, Sunny Corner, NB, on Monday, December 21st, 2020, from 2 to 4PM and 7 to 9PM.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from Saint Thomas the Apostle Roman Catholic Church on Tuesday, December 22nd, 2020 at 11AM with Father Dan Melanson officiating.
Burial will take place in the spring in Saint Thomas the Apostle Roman Catholic Church Cemetery.
