Melvin’s Obituary
NICKERSON, Melvin – 92, Barrington, formerly of South Side, passed away September 13, 2020, in Bay Side Home, Barrington. Born at South Side on August 30, 1928, he was a son of the late Marshall Nickerson and Mae (Cunningham). Melvin was an avid hunter with deer hunting being his favourite. He enjoyed watching all kinds of sports but especially enjoyed boxing. He also enjoyed digging clams. Melvin had a great sense of humour and often liked to play practical jokes on family and friends. He was a great story teller and people were often drawn into a conversation with him because of his ability to captivate with words. He greatly loved talking of old times past. He is survived by his children, Deborah (Donnie), Digby; Stillman (Sandra), North East Point; Curtis (Donna), Lower Clark’s Harbour; Dean (Dorothy), River Head; Carmen (Marion), Barrington Head; grandchildren, Jana, Keri, Jason, Shannon, Stephanie, Tiffany, Shawn, Desirée, Hannah, Faith, Krystin, Kieara; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brothers, Conrad, and Stewart. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his wife, Myrtle (Cunningham); siblings, Sable, Randall, Donnie, George, Mervin, Marshall, Joyce, Margaret, Evernell “Dedie”, and Velma. There will be a visitation held on Saturday, September 19, from 2-4 p.m. at the H. M. Huskilson’s Memorial Chapel, Barrington, where a private family service will follow. Covid restrictions are in effect and social distancing protocols must be followed. Interment will be in the White Lily Cemetery, South Side. Memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice.
