Melvin passed away peacefully at the Dr. Leonard A. Miller Centre on Tuesday, December 1, 2020, in his 70th year. He leaves with a lifetime of love and memories his wife Lorna (Colley) and son Stephen. His canine buddies Parker and Ross will miss his endless supply of treats and shared meals. He will be missed by a circle of friends and family near and far, remembered for his humour, stories, willingness to help, love of conversation, and indomitable positivity in the face of his many health challenges. Melvin was predeceased by his parents Eric and Mary (Swain) Crewe, his sister Shirley Crewe, and other members of the Crewe and Swain families. Originally from Gander, Melvin enjoyed a long career in the aviation industry, having worked with Allied Aviation, Universal Helicopters, and the Canadian Coast Guard Helicopter Section. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Carnell’s Funeral Home, St. John’s, with inurnment at St. James Anglican Cemetery, Barachois Hill, Port-aux-Basques on a later date.
