It is with sadness and love I write this post today. On Friday (Dec 18) our family lost a Husband, Dad and Papa. A man that even though he could be stubborn loved each and everyone of us. A man that would give his family 100 percent even when he couldn’t, who fought a battle that always was an uphill climb. A dad who cheered you on and pushed you harder than you pushed yourself, a husband that you could love and hate at the same time but always knew he was there for you. A Papa whose world revolved around making his grandkids so happy and show them more then we ever thought possible.
Today the world lost a friend, a coach and many more to many others- a man you could drink and laugh with, a man sometimes with not many words but words that you knew came from the heart, a man that even a little argument or fight could be ended with a ‘you know I love you, I just want what’s best for you’. A man that though he didn’t have much growing up, wanted to give you the best he had to offer. As time went on a man that you learned had many stories and many that he didn’t want to share but always able to give advice (even when it wasn’t wanted).
A Husband that gave a women unconditional love and made even the tough years come to be good years. A man that may not have always shown it but love her more then the words that came off his lips.
A Dad that is loved, honoured and cherished. Who will be remembered for the 5:30 drives to the arena whether it be for hockey or figure skating. Who wanted to play a part in our sporting activities, from coach baseball to managing hockey teams. You heart was always there for us.
A Papa who loved his Grandchildren with every ounce of love he could. These 3 kids will have so many memories, you came to the school concerts, supported them during tournaments and came to dance recitals. For that I am grateful. For making your youngest granddaughter laugh and do silly things, she loved you… we all love you.
Dad you where my daily phone call on the way home from work. I know I said ‘I know’ to you a lot but I was never going to win an argument with you, no one could. You just had to drop it and admit defeat! Must be an Augustson thing cause the kids to have they part of you in them. The strong silent type, the one everyone wanted to be like. The one you wanted to make sure you did better for (and for Mom too!) We as kids didn’t want to disappoint you guys, we wanted you to be proud, we wanted to stand by you forever, we wanted you to know we love you. We listened and we ignored. We smiled and we cried, but now we will be strong, we will be there each other, we will not let each other fall. We will hold her up just like you would want us to. We are a family always and for ever.
Love you dad more the words could ever describe and more then any action can show.
Friday the world lost a strong quite man.
Love all us-
