Maurice Brouzes
The family announces with great sorrow the passing of Maurice (Moe) Brouzes, age 75, in Sudbury on April 16, 2020. Maurice left us peacefully with his spouse and children by his side.
Maurice was born January 9, 1945 in Sudbury to Paul and Yvonne Brouzes. He was raised in Verner and later attended Scollard Hall in North Bay. Upon graduation, he hoped to become an air force pilot but testing revealed less than perfect vision. So instead, he decided to pursue a business education in order to join the family business. While at Northern Ontario Institute of Technology (NOIT) in Kirkland Lake, Moe met Bonnie and they married in 1966. The following year, they welcomed their first child into the world and Moe completed his Business Administration studies.
The family business was thriving. Brouzes Equipment Company was Northern Ontario’s largest John Deere industrial equipment dealer with branches in Sudbury, Sault Ste Marie and later, Chapleau. With Paul managing the main branch in Sudbury, Moe’s skills were needed to help develop the Soo operation. In 1968, Maurice and Bonnie’s second child was born in Sault Ste Marie. With Paul’s impending retirement, Moe and family moved to Sudbury in 1971 where they would settle and have their third child in 1975. Moe soon became general manager of the organization and continued to grow the business earning numerous awards from Deere & Company until his retirement.
There was nothing more important to Maurice than family. He valued traditions and celebrations, joyfully looking forward to every birthday and holiday gathering. Moe was an active member of the Idylwylde Golf and Country Club where he made many friends and enjoyed golfing and curling for many seasons. When he retired, he chased the golf ball south to Florida where he wintered for 10 years. In the last few years of his life, Moe loved spending time with his baby grand-daughter, Quinn, taking long walks outdoors with her and the rest of the family.
Beloved spouse of 54 years to Bonnie (nee Ferguson) of Sudbury, dear father to Stacey Edington (Jason) of Sudbury, Lise Boshell (Derick) of Paris, Ontario and Patrick (Kim) of Sudbury. Dear grandfather of Walter, Peter, Torrance, Maddyn and Quinn. Beloved son of Paul and Yvonne (nee Rochon) of Verner, predeceased. Dear brother of Raymond (predeceased) (May) of Hudson, Quebec, and Michel (Sherry) of Welland. Will be sadly missed by niece Roxane (Eric) and nephew Stephane.
