Obituary of Mary Slocum
It is with sadness that the family announces the passing of Mary Easton Slocum, which occurred on Monday, October 12, 2020 at her residence in Waterbrough at the age of 91. She was born on February 1, 1929 in Arbroath, Scotland, the daughter of the late William and Elizabeth (Smart) Nairn and wife of the late Clifford Slocum.
Mary was very involved in her local Legion Branch # 60, being a member of the Auxiliary for 50 years and secretary for 37 years.
She enjoyed playing cards, bingo, dancing and music. But it was spending time on the family farm that she enjoyed the most. She was the last surviving member of her family.
Mary will live on in the hearts of her daughters: Christine (Daryl) Morton, Wendy Reese, Elaine Vincent, Debbie (Mike) Chown; sons: Daryl (Marlene) Slocum, Gerald (Judi) Slocum, Brian (Linda) Slocum; son-in-law Howard Reese; seventeen grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. Along with her parents and husband Clifford, she is predeceased by her son-in-law Eric Vincent, grandson Bradley Slocum, sisters Ester Nairn, Elizabeth Hooper, Janet Price and brother James Nairn.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sus (506-433-1176), from where visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 14, 2020 from 2 to 6PM. Funeral Service will be held at Mary’s residence (57 Union Settlement Road, Waterborough) on Thursday, October 15, 2020 at 2:00pm. Please note that masks are required along with social distancing. The interment will take place in St. Luke’s Anglican Cemetery, Waterborough, NB.
