Obituary of Mary Riddell
Mary Riddell passed away at the Bonnechere Manor on Tuesday December 8, 2020 at the age of 99. She was born in Barbacs, Hungary on May 5, 1921. Pre-deceased by her parents Mary Horvath, her father Gaspar Horvath, her beloved son Jim Bristow, brothers Jim and Joe Horvath, and sisters Peggy Mason, & Theresa Kemball (Fred), Pine Falls, Manitoba. She is survived by her daughter-in-law Barbara Bristow, granddaughter Mary-Lynne Weightman (Pat), Stittsville, Great granddaughter Holly Bartley (Jay) Stittsville, sisters Rose Puskas (late Steve), Paris, ON., Anita Shefchyk (late Walter), Winnipeg and many nieces and nephews.
Mary was a very hard worker all her life. Her great joy was cooking up tremendous pots of her famous Hungarian cooking and sharing it with all her neighbours and family. Throughout her life, she travelled extensively, was a voracious reader and lived her life to the fullest. She brightened the lives of all that knew her with her tremendous wit, kindness, her famous sayings and sense of humour. She will be greatly missed. Upon Mary’s request, there will be a family Celebration of Life in the spring. A sincere appreciation is extended to Dr. Strader and the tremendous, caring, loving staff at the Bonnechere Manor. The visit from Father Brennan in her final days meant so much. In memory of Mary, donations to the Bonnechere Manor Foundation would be appreciated. Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Mary
