It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Ann Jean Steels, age 71, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, on Tuesday, November 17, 2020.
Born December 4, 1948, she was the daughter of late Clayton and Viola Steels.
Mary Ann is survived by her sister, Viola (Victor); children, Jo-Ann Landry (Todd Dixon), Anne-Marie (David) Hutchison, Darrin Landry (Stephanie Gillis), Cindy (Ian) Grant and William Keist; granddaughters, Michelle, Cassidy, Sommer, Chelsea, Corrine, Katrina and Tiffany; grandsons, Chase, David Andrew, Dante, David and Jonathon; and great-grandchildren, Isabella Landry-Collier, Dominique, Caleb and Isabella.
She was predeceased by her husband, John Landry and brother, Jimmy Steels.
Mary Ann was a mother to all that she encountered. She was caring, loving and nurturing. Mary Ann was loved by everyone that she met, as she always took time to make sure everyone was comfortable, happy and fed. She made sure that all her children knew how much they meant to her. Mary Ann will be greatly missed and never forgotten.
We would like to sincerely thank the doctors and nurses, especially her special nurses, Brett and Sharon of the An Cala Palliative Care unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital for the compassionate and loving care provided to Mom.
Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Monday, November 23 from 4-7 p.m. Funeral service will be held at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, November 24 at 11 a.m., with Rev. Dennis Lamey officiating. Interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to An Cala Palliative Care Unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital or a charity of one’s choice.
