Obituary
Mark Alan Huck
June 1, 1966 – Feb 4, 2020
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Mark Huck at his home on the Huck family farm near Luseland, Sask. He leaves behind his parents, Alan and Betty; his daughter Ashley and Shawn Parks; his sister Chandra and Clem Schraefel, and their children Adam, Stephen and Laura, and Derek; his sister Lisa; his brother Jason and Terri, and their children Copper and Edison; his brother Rob and Amber and their children Rogan and Samuel. He was predeceased by his son Richard, his grandparents, several uncles and aunts, and far too many cousins and friends.
Mark was raised on the family farm and attended school in Luseland. He had an eventful childhood, exploring the outdoors, riding his motorbikes, and helping his dad on the farm. His proclivity for taking unnecessary risks as a child was legendary. He was also an excellent athlete, playing on the local hockey and football teams, and remained an avid sports fan for his entire life. He was known to his friends as “Biz” and enjoyed an active social life full of fun and supplemented by good, loud music.
Mark’s work took him to Saskatoon, Edmonton, Prince George, Abbotsford, Nanaimo and the oil patch. He attained a certificate in power engineering at SIAST Kelsey campus but spent a large portion of his working career as a truck driver. He was very capable with machinery and had the farmer’s knack for repairs. There were few tasks he enjoyed more than those during the bustle of harvest. He returned to reside at the family farm in 2005.
His passions included Harley-Davidsons and the Saskatchewan Roughriders. He also loved music, particularly the sing-alongs at gatherings of family and friends. He was Alan’s biggest fan, and would sit rapt until the singing ended, only then to bellow out for more.
Children loved Mark, or “Uncle Biz,” and he was always so kind and caring to them. He was always eager to meet his new nephews, his niece, cousins and his friend’s little ones, and took delight in presenting them exciting, age-inappropriate gifts.
Ashley was the apple of his eye. He was so very proud of her and her accomplishments. Dancing with her at her wedding was one of the fondest moments of his life.
Mark had a massive heart and was always ready to lend a helping hand. As a result, he gained new, dear friends wherever he went. Even during times of difficulty in his own life, his friends always reached out to him for support and care, and this continued right to the end.
A funeral will be held on Thursday, February 13, 2020 at 1 pm at St. Eugene de Mazenod Church in Luseland. A reception will follow at Luseland Community Hall. Please dress in whatever is comfortable – perhaps in a Riders jersey – as Mark would. He will be laid to rest with his beloved Grandpa Adam Huck. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to your local mental health association…and that you reach out to somebody today.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Mark Biz Alan Huck June 1 1966 February 4 2020 (age 53)..
