Marjorie Tobin Wassilaskus 2020

Marjorie Anastasia (Tobin) Wassilaskus
Sydney Mines
It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our dear sister, aunt and God-mother Marjorie Wassilaskus, age 72, on Tuesday, December 1, 2020, at the Northside General Hospital.
Marjorie was born on May 19, 1948, in Sydney Mines, where she lived all her life. She was the daughter of the late Emmanuel and Edith (Ford) Tobin.
She loved to shop and travel, especially to Ontario to visit Jeff, her nephew, whom she thought of as a son, and his beautiful family. Jeff would take her to see her favourite baseball team, the Toronto Blue Jays. She was also an avid Boston Bruins fan. She had a special place in her heart for animals, and always shared her home with them, Missy her cat, being her last faithful companion.
Marjorie spent most of her working career with Sobeys in Sydney Mines, until a sudden illness caused her to retire early.
Left behind to mourn the loss of Marjorie is her sister Susan (Bryan) Cullen, brothers Buddy (Carol) Tobin, Freddy (Debbie) Tobin, Danny (Linda) Tobin, and Dennis (Geralyn) Tobin. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, whom she adored.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Joseph Wassilaskus, her sister Linda Boutilier (Tobin), nephew Aaron Tobin, her grandparents, and numerous aunts and uncles.
Marjorie went out literally in a blaze of glory, to the most beautiful sunrise, listening to Rod Stewart, with her family at her side.
To the nurses and staff on the 5th Floor, Northside General Hospital, thank you for taking such great care of Marjorie during her brief stay. Marjorie had numerous hospital stays, and was always looked after and treated kindly. A special thank you to Dr. Michel and Louise McKeough for going above and beyond to provide the care that she needed, it was greatly appreciated.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place. The funeral service will be held at a later date.
Donations in Marjorie’s memory may be made to the Feral Abandoned Cat Society, the SPCA, or a charity of your choice.
“The sky was lit for your passage home to your family in the sky.
Suffer no more our beautiful Angel.”

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Marjorie Tobin Wassilaskus 2020..
