Obituary
Marie Maier passed away on Saturday, October 3, 2020 at the age of 85 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 67 years Artur; children Kim, Kevin and Deborah (Scott); 12 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and many more family and friends. She was predeceased by her son Eddie.
Marie was born and raised in Morin, AB. She met the love of her life Artur at a Halloween dance when she was 18. They were married and then started their family in Drumheller, AB. In 1954 they made Calgary their home which is where they have lived ever since. Marie enjoyed traveling and dancing, but her greatest love was her family. She was a true matriarch for her family.
Due to gathering restrictions, a private family service will be held for Marie on Saturday, October 10, 2020 at 11:00 am. Those wishing to participate in the service from home can do so by clicking the webcast link on her obituary at www.piersons.ca. Interment will be held at Rockyview Garden of Peace Cemetery. Friends are invited to join with the family at Elliston Park for an outdoor gathering at 2:00 pm following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Marie to the Diabetes Canada (www.diabetes.ca).
