LANDERS, Marjorie Jean- age 90, of the Meadows Home for Special Care and formerly of Sandford Yarmouth Co., N.S passed away peacefully on May 5, 2020. Born in Sandford on November 23, 1929, she was a daughter of the late James Donald and Florence (Perry) Thurston. Marjorie loved being a mother and adored her grandchildren. She was a very kind and caring person who always looked for the positive. She loved to laugh and always had a song in her heart. She enjoyed time spent with friends and family, gardening, baking, road trips and feeding the wildlife that visited her backyard. As a young woman, she worked at Cohens store in Yarmouth as a bookkeeper. After marriage, she became a homemaker and worked in the family business as a bookkeeper and aided in processing fish. Marjorie cherished her faith and was an active member of her church. Throughout her life, she enjoyed belonging to various groups including, TOPS CLUB, Ski-doo Club, The Christian Women’s Association and the Ostomy Association. Marjorie is survived by: daughters, Mary Jean (Mario Lisi d.), Clara Mae (Allan Maclnnis d.), Emma Lynette (Mike Smith) and Ida Louise (Glen Berry); grandchildren, Regina, Sarah, Brendon, Ryland, Tyson (Farrah), Emara, Lelan, Isaac, Ava, and Great Grand Daughter Meeya Marjorie. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her loving husband of 66 years Edgar Percy Landers, sisters Gertrude Drew, Helene Young and brother, Donald James Thurston. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Due to COVID 19 restrictions, a private service will be held Saturday May 8 at 2 P.M. with Rev. David Hockley officiating. This service can be watched via webcast at www.sweenysfuneralhome.net. Interment will follow in Sandford Cemetery. Donations in memory may be made to the Alzhiemer Society of Canada or the Yarmouth Salvation Army.
