Marjorie’s Obituary
Swim, Marjorie Elizabeth , Osborne Harbour
We are sad to announce the passing of this strong willed lady, Marjorie. She had endured and overcome so many health issues in her life. Marjorie was a daughter of the late Raymond and Ellinor Swim of Osborne Harbour, born November 2, 1937. Marj grew up in Osborne Harbour and lived and worked in Halifax as well as in Prince Rupert, BC where she lived for a number of years, before returning to Osborne, NS. She loved doing word search puzzles, reading and of course, most enjoyed visits from family and friends and proudly showed off pictures of her great, great nephews and nieces. In her earlier years, she had researched and compiled “The Genealogy of the Swim Family” going back to 1783. And she had it printed in book form. She had originally typed it all by hand (or with 1 finger) and had help from her cousin, Rosalie. Marjorie leaves behind her much loved family, her brother Carroll of Prince Rupert, BC, her nieces Cathy (Gary) of Brookside, NS, Beth of Kingston, ON, Karen (Archie), Denise (Cecil), Theresa (Randy) all of Prince Rupert, BC, nephew Michael (Sheryl) of Waverley, NS and 16 great nieces and nephews and 12 great great nieces and nephews along with 3 more on the way, and many much loved cousins. She was predeceased by her parents, her sister Bernetta, brother-in-law Keith, sister-in-law Shirley and nephew Keith. Many thanks to Dr Riley and a very special, heartfelt thank you to the wonderful, compassionate staff at Surf Lodge Nursing Home where Marj lived the past 6 years. You are amazing, wonderful, special people. Marjorie’s long standing wish was to have her body donated to Dalhousie Human Body Donation program, unfortunately, Dal is not accepting these gifts during this pandemic. Cremation has taken place under the direction of H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home. We will have a memorial service and burial at a later date. Marjorie’s wish was to be buried with her parents in Osborne Cemetery, this will be granted. Marjorie always said “Family – it’s the best” and she was right! Please feel free to leave words of condolence for the family at www.huskilson.net
