Marilyn Schreiber
(née Schwartz)
Peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, September 30, 2020, in her ninety-third year. Devoted wife of William (Bill) for seventy-one years. Cherished mother and mother-in-law of Dr. Donald Schreiber and Lynn Saunders, Dr. Richard Schreiber and Cheryl Brownstein, Brian Schreiber and Haiyan Zhang, Suzanne Schreiber and Robert Greco, and Nancy Adams. Daughter of the late Edith and the late William (Billy) Schwartz. Dear sister and sister-in-law of Harriet and Marvin Corber. Proud grandmother of Lauren, Benjamin, Nicole, Jonathan and Mark Schreiber. She will be sadly missed by her niece Deborah Corber (Maurice Tovel), godson Michael Corber (Martina Voigt), and her many other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
After obtaining her teacher’s diploma at MacDonald College, she taught at Edward VII school. Later she earned a B.Ed. at Concordia University. She devoted her life to raising her four children in a nurturing and creative environment that instilled broad cultural interests and educational achievement. Her home was always open and welcoming. Highly intelligent, dynamic and personable, she exhibited many talents in her lifetime including leadership in the Talmud Torah PTA, singing with the Laurentian choir, teaching in TESL programs, playing duplicate bridge, finishing a crossword puzzle or hosting a scrumptious dinner for family and friends. As family matriarch, she was the glue that bonded extended family throughout the world, whether through cards, letters, email, phone, or most recently, Zoom.
The family would like to sincerely thank Joann Cull’ag, Marissa Francisco, Arlene Villanueva and Elizabeth Ramirez for their outstanding and dignified care. A private graveside service will take place. Contributions in her memory may be made to her favourite charity, Donald Berman Maimonides Foundation, (514) 483-2121, ext. 2207.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Marilyn Schreiber 2020..
