Our hearts are heavy with grief and sadness at the passing of our beloved mother, Maria Lengyel (aka Marie, Mary, Marika) in Vancouver, BC. Maria was born in Budapest, Hungary and immigrated to Calgary, Canada in 1956 where she owned a number of successful retail and wholesale businesses (MG Originals, Mary G, Mary’s Dress Shop). Maria could design anything. Her reputation shined through her transformation of client concepts into creations they loved. She was known as a design and fashion maven, as evidenced by her creative haute couture gowns worn at the annual MHBK Ball in Calgary. Her creative drive led her to painting, her true passion. Maria is predeceased by husbands Sandor Gulyas and Ferenc (Frank) Gomory. She is survived by daughters Mary (Hugh), ZsaZsa, Andrea, son Frank, grandson Hugh Jr, and granddaughters Amelia and Alexis. Her family would like to express their sincere gratitude to all staff at the Royal Arch Masonic Home for their compassionate care and support.
