Obituary of Margaret Bernetta Hersey
The passing of Margaret Bernetta Hersey formerly of Nashwaak Village , NB , wife of the late Frank Hersey occurred on Friday, February 14, 2020 at the Nashwaak Villa, Stanley , NB. Born on January 3, 1932 in Blissfield , NB , she was the daughter of the late George and Janet (Brennan) Sutherland. She was a member of the Marguerite Bourgeoys Society and Our Lady of Fatima Parish. Margaret enjoyed baking and socializing with her neighbours.
Margaret is survived by her daughters, Marie Lofstrom (Dwight) of Mazerolle Settlement, NB, Nancy McNeill (Rick) of Durham Bridge, NB, Joan Lyons of Nashwaak Village, NB and Anne Gillingham (Mark) of Fredericton, NB; her sons, Bernie McNeil (Robin) of Slave Lake, AB, Stephen Hersey (Sandy), Paul Hersey (Michelle) and Peter Hersey (Louise) all of Nashwaak Village, NB; several grandchildren; great grandchildren; sisters, Gladys Washburn and Mary McAloon-Jones; brothers, Ben Sutherland and Gene Colford (Elaine); several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her first hustband, Patrick McNeil; brothers, Sherman Colford, Peter Sutherland, Paul Sutherland and Jim Sutherland.
Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Wednesday February 19, 2020 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Mass will take place at Holy Family Parish, 1500 Hanwell Rd. Fredericton, NB on Thursday February 20, 2020 at 11am with Fr. Monte Peters officiating. Interment will take place in St. Anthony’s Cemetery at a later date. Special thank you to the staff of the Nashwaak Villa for the kindness and care they provide during Margaret’s time there.
