Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Malcolm Burton MacLean, announces his passing which occurred on Monday, July 6th, 2020 at Turnbull Nursing Home. Born in Midland, N.B on February 19, 1939 he was the son of the late Arnold and Margaret (Carlin) MacLean.
Malcolm is survived by his son Shawn (Lynn) of Saint John; daughter Heather (Keith) of Saint John; grandchildren Jeremy, Melissa, Alex, and Adam; great-grandchildren Zachariah, Jessie, and Shea; as well as several nieces, nephews, and friends.
In addition to his parents, Malcolm was predeceased by his loving wife Kathleen (2015) and their infant son Malcolm Jr. and sister Ida (Betty) MacLean
Burt as he liked to be called spent his early years in Midland, NB eventually moving to Marsh St. in old Haymarket Square area of Saint John. During his work career Burt work for several different construction companies as well as working in field of building maintenance.
In 1966 Burt married the love of his life and lifelong partner Kathleen. Burt was a devote family man and took great pride in spending time with family. Many happy memories of traveling to the New England states on family vacations.
Burt really appreciated time he got to spend watching an old John Wayne movie or an episode of the Andy Griffin show. He also took great pleasure listening to Weekend Jamboree on Sunday evenings.
In his later years Burt’s home was the Turnbull Nursing Home. Strong ties and fond relationship were built with all of the residents and staff. You could always see Burt moving around in his wheelchair to meet and greet who ever was around the next corner or always willing to stop by for a celebration and a piece of birthday cake.
Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) has been entrusted with the arrangements. Visitation hours will be held on Friday, July 10, 2020 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. Staff will be available at the main entrance of the funeral home to assist guests with social distancing measures when they arrive. Please note that physical distancing restrictions will be observed during the gathering.
As a result of COVID restrictions, a private family memorial service will be celebrated for Malcolm on Saturday, July 11, 2020 at the Fundy Chapel. Interment to be held at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
Memorial donations towards the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Diabetes Association would be appreciated.
