Lorne Jack Dow 1930 2020

Obituary of Lorne Jack Dow
Dear Dad
We wanted to write you this letter to let you know how much we miss you already, since you passed away on December 10, 2020 at the age of 90.
You helped make our lives wonderful and joyful with your goofy sense of humour. You taught Donnie to love fishing and hunting. You taught us all to enjoy camping and the outdoors, the same way you did. You loved watching the Junior Hockey tournaments, women’s hockey, curling, tennis, and soccer. You were always watching Western movies and reading books and took an exceptional interest in Mining History and History in general. You were a very curious person and were always asking questions and looking up the answers on the computer.
We loved your stories about your life as a boy and youth and the many friends you talked about. The many adventures you had growing up in Kimberley. Stories about your service in the Army stationed in Hohne, Germany from 1951 – 1954. Especially how you came back to your hometown of Kimberley and married our Mom, Edna Morrison. We are so proud of you for staying strong enough to be able to stay in your house from 1959 to 2020 (61 years), and for taking care of it through your inventive, resourceful, and handy way. You learned great skills working for Fabro’s, the train track company and for Cominco which you retired from in 1985. You had a good long retirement and spent much of it walking around Kimberley, Marysville, and your old haunts that you enjoyed as a kid.
You talked about and grieved for your grandad, Arthur (Skipper) Moody, your grandmother Lally (Elizabeth Moody), your mother, Violet Nicholson and your two sisters, Shirley Kirchen and Sue Nicholson.
You loved your family, and we felt every bit of it, through your kind, sensitive and generous heart. Your son, Donald John Dow (Sherry) of Kimberley, B.C., your three daughters, Debra Jean Smith (Terry), Carol Lynn Matheson (Alexander) and Lori Anderson (Jim), your sisters Lindis Trinder and Desiree McKay, your grandchildren, David Lorne Matheson, Janeen Lindsey Matheson, Corey Elgin Smith, Marnie Lynn Anderson, Jeffrey John Anderson, Scott James Anderson, Jocelyn Terri Smith and Derek Alexander Anderson and your great-grandkids, Hailey Jean Anderson, Jack David Kevin Matheson and Priya Gracelynn Matheson and your nieces love you to the moon and back and you will be forever in our hearts.
Don’t forget to grab a beer after you ride your John Deere to somewhere over the Rainbow.
We will give you your cheer “Ya ba da ba doo”
Eternal Love from your “famdamily”
