Lois May Donkin Charlton Sparks 19322020 avis de deces

Lois May (Donkin) (Charlton) Sparks
1932-2020
Lois May (Donkin) (Charlton) Sparks of Dieppe,
NB passed away at The Moncton Hospital on Friday, September
4, 2020 at the age of 88. Born in Saint John, NB she was the daughter
of the late J. Harold and Elsie G. (Coleman) Donkin.
Survived by her husband, G. Douglas Sparks; son, Richard
(late Shelley) of Quispamsis and their children Stephanie McCrory
(Daryl) of Saint John, Vanessa Chamberlain (Luke) of Quispamsis, Adam
Charlton of Saint John; son Stephen (Brenda) of Saint John and their
children Laura, Kyle (Erica); daughter, Elsa Russell (Patrick) of
Rothesay and their children Rebecca (Brad) and Brent; stepson Craig
Sparks and grandson Jacob of Moncton; sister-in-law Florence Donkin of
Moncton.
In addition to her parents Lois was predeceased by her first
husband, Gordon S. Charlton and her brother, Ralph E.
Donkin.
In her early years Lois worked as the office manager for
Lloyd’s Plumbing and Heating and moon lighting as head
cashier at The Flame Restaurant and night club. She also worked at
McLean-Matthews Pharmacy in Lansdowne Plaza in the north end of Saint
John. She bowled in a league at the Bowl-A-Rama Lanes on Union Street.
She left Saint John for Halifax in 1969 where she worked for the
Valu-Fair Health and Beauty Aids Stores in a management position. Lois
then moved to Moncton around 1976 working at Eaton’s in
Highfield Square as a cosmetician specializing in the Clinique brand
of products, retiring in 1988.
She was a dedicated, hard worker in all her employment. A
perfectionist in everything she accomplished. She loved her family
unconditionally. Lois enjoyed travelling with Doug to many United
Commercial Travelers (UCT) Conventions around North America where she
made many good friends over the years. She was a great shopper,
seeking her favorite brands in ladies wear and always looking for a
sale. She was impeccably dressed for all events she attended from a
barn dance to a formal event. She loved wearing sparkly clothes and
nice jewelry. She was a TRUE LADY!
Lois loved to chat with anybody she encountered even right up
until the past couple of years while she resided in the Moncton
Hospital, McNair Manor (Riverview) and The Salvation Army Lakeview
Manor (Riverview). She always managed to keep her wit and humor as
most of her attendants would say, “Your mom keeps us in
stitches!” “She is So FUNNY!” You never
knew what she was going to say but it was always entertaining, and she
was good with a one liner. Lois was very observant even with her
dementia she still saw things others did not. She loved her daily
visits with Doug until Covid hit (weekly visits) and yearned for that
Big Kiss she was waiting for and finally got in her final days with
us.
Our family is very grateful for the care shown while Lois was
a resident at each of these places the past two years. We appreciate
all they did to make Mom feel happy, relaxed and most of all
comfortable. God bless you all and thank you for your
support!
