Obituary of Lloyd Thomas Bentley
BENTLEY CLU, Lloyd Thomas
Peacefully at the Brantford General Hospital on Monday, February 10, 2020 in his 99th year, beloved husband of Doreen (nee Richards) for 62 years (2005). Loving father to Richard (Carol), Roger (Debbie), Christopher (the late Patti). Grandpa to Mary-Ann, Leah, Celine, Laura, Christine and great-grandpa to Mia, Marco and Kiera. Survived by his brother Emerson (Joyce), sister Marg (the late Victor) and predeceased by Gloria (Bill). Uncle to many nieces, nephews and cousins. Lloyd was an Officer, Pilot-Navigator attached to the Royal Air Force and a very proud veteran of World War II from August 1943 to August 1945. He took part in “D Day” and “A Bridge Too Far” at Arnhem, The Netherlands in 1944. Lloyd worked for London Life as a chartered life underwriter until he retired in 1982; was a long time member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Dunsdon Branch, #461. His favourite activites were duplicate bridge, golf, tennis and billiards. A legion service will be held at the McCLEISTER FUNERAL HOME, 495 Park Road North, Brantford on Saturday, September 19, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. A private family memorial service will follow.Cremation has taken place.If wished, memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Cancer Society or Diabetes Association gratefully appreciated.
