Obituary of Lilla Mae Siderius
Age 84, Halifax
Lilla passed away Saturday March 14, 2020 in Parkstone Enhanced Care, Halifax. Born in Windsor, Nova Scotia, April 27, 1935, she was a daughter of the late Charles Roy and Beatrice (Hawkesworth) Kilcup. Lilla attended the Normal College in Truro and taught in several schools in Hants County through her career, retiring from Falmouth Elementary. Lilla was married to Foppe (Sid) Siderius. Together they enjoyed going to local dances in Hantsport and at Tower Lights and traveled across Canada several times.
Lilla enjoyed gardening, cross stitching, walking and visiting with family for Christmas dinners and the annual family BBQ contests. Lilla especially enjoyed her time volunteering at the West Hants Historical Society. Her passion was genealogy and she left a legacy of research and stories for her family.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda (David) Sampson; granddaughter, Kenzie, Halifax; siblings, Mary (John) Blandin, Dartmouth, Dianna Johnson, Fred (Linda) Kilcup, Charles (Marnie) Kilcup, Portage La Prairie, Wilma (Dave) Hurgett, Calgary as well as by many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Sid; brother, Blye.
Arrangements are under the care of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road. Cremation has taken place. A family and friends celebration of Lilla’s life will take place at a later date.
Her family would like to give special thanks to the staff at Parkstone Enhanced Care, Citadel Court, who provided such wonderful and compassionate care to Lilla.
Donations in Lilla’s memory may be made to the West Hants Historical Society, Canadian Cancer Society or the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia.
