Leta’s Obituary
DIXON, Leta Myrtle (Garron) – 93, of Wood’s Harbour passed away Sunday, May 3, 2020 at Bayside Home. Born in Shag Harbour on June 26, 1926 she was a daughter of the late Oscar Morton and Clarisse Beatrice (Nickerson) Garron. Leta was a loving and dedicated wife to Keith, the perfect mother to Langille, Carl, Gary and Rhonda, grandmother to many grandchildren and great grandchildren. A forever loyal, respected and caring person to her family, friends and all that ever knew her. She was a member of Guiding Star Division #235, Rebekah Lodge #39 and St. John Ambulance Ladies First Aid Brigade. Leta was also a member of several organizations in Wood’s Harbour including the Fire Department – Ladies Auxiliary, Christmas Club, Ambulance Service – Attendant, Do For Others Club, New Horizons for Seniors and the Wood’s Harbour Calvary Baptist Church Choir. She worked as an Avon Lady, Janbrite Restaurant as a waitress in the early 1970’s and The Scarlett Letter as an Upper Class Lady Actor. Leta was a lifelong musician – singer, accordion player, guitar player and piano player at many events, kitchen parties and private get-together’s throughout the Tri Counties. She also performed with her husband and granddaughters at the Annual Christmas Daddies Fundraiser. Leta is survived by her children, Carl (Ben), Gary (Pamela) and Rhonda (Jeffery); daughter-in-law, Nancy; grandchildren, Darren (Sonya), Timothy (Joellen), Janine, Devin (Leah), Shonda (Kirk), Sherisse, Jeremy (Candace), Shaula, Hayley and Taylor (Kate); great grandchildren, Ethan, Chloee, Kylie, Nicholas, Noah, Kaidyn, Maitlyn, Avery, Gentry, Jax, Gage and Akaya; great great grandchild, Gavin and many many nephews and nieces. Besides her parents, Leta was predeceased by her husband, William Keith Dixon; son, Langille Keith; granddaughter, Maggie; siblings, Leona Garron Davis (Alvin), Bernard Garron, Arnold Garron and Leonard Garron (Gladys). The family would like to extend a special thanks to all the health care works and staff at Bayside Home for their warmth and compassion show to their mother during her stay. Arrangements have been entrusted to H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Barrington. Due to the current COVID-19 regulations a private graveside service will take place for immediate family. A celebration of Leta’s life will be held at a later date. It is requested that there be family flowers only, in lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Greenwood Cemetery or charity of your choice.
