Obituary
Surrounded by family, Les (Leslie) Andrew McDade of Rothesay, NB passed away on March 10, 2020. He was born on February 6, 1969 to the late Charlotte McDade and spent most of his youth living in Hampton, NB.
Les was a man of humble beginnings who didn’t allow his potential to be dictated by his circumstances. He didn’t have the resources to finish his university degree, but he was smart, worked hard, stood out, and was able to create opportunities for himself. He married Cori in 1999 and had two beautiful and talented children with her. He retired due to illness as the Senior Director of Customer Engagement for the Americas for global technology giant, Oracle. Leading this team was the highlight of his career and it was with great reluctance that he left his valued colleagues.
A wise and empathetic man, Les touched the lives of many people and was respected by everyone who knew him. He had an unquenchable thirst to learn, could see both sides of any situation, and enthusiastically shared his knowledge. He was generous with his love, time, energy, and money and took profound satisfaction in helping others, never seeking attention or recognition.
He was unapologetic for the “geeky” interests and hobbies that persisted on through his youth like computers, video games, and D&D with The Nerd Herd. He was also incredibly grateful for the love and support of his life group friends who had been with him through every milestone in his adult life.
When he learned that he had terminal cancer in October 2018, his immediate concern was not of the diagnosis itself, but for his family. He took his role as provider and counsellor very seriously. He spent his remaining days investing in them and trying to impart all that he could to prepare them for the future. He was a husband and father until his very last breath.
Les loved and was loved deeply by his family. He is survived by his wife Cori Moore-McDade and his sons Heath and Kaelan McDade, his sisters Carrie McDade (Pat), Michelle Nancekivell (Stephen), Chrystal Yeomans (Howie), Kim Booker, and his brothers Andrew Booker (Melinda) and Chris Booker (Elizabeth) and his nephew, nieces, and great nieces and nephews in whom he took great pleasure, his mother and father in-laws Bonnie and Brian Marks, sister-in-law Tara Collicott, He will also be dearly missed by his cats Seamus, Jasmine, and Caitie. He was predeceased by his mother Charlotte Mortimer and step-father Robert Mortimer.
The family would like to thank the doctors and staff of the Saint John Regional Hospital for the incredible care he received, particularly from Dr. Scott Bagnell, Dr. Samantha Gray, and Dr. Holly Campbell and nurse Lauren Clark-Raymond Glaspy, and the amazing staff at Bobby’s Hospice.
Visitation will take place at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John, NB (506-646-2424) on Sunday, March 15, 2020 between the hours of 2-5PM. A celebration of Les’ life will take place on Monday, March 16 at 1:00 PM at Fundy Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, start the conversations or make an appointment for you or a loved one to have a prostate examination – he would have wanted that. Donations may be made to the family via a GoFundMe at gf.me/u/xptqx4, to the Movember Foundation at ca.movember.com/donate, or to 527 Simonds Air Cadet Squadron.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Les Andrew McDade February 6 1969 March 10 2020 (age 51)..
