Leo Maughan
1931-2020
Youngest son of the late Gordon and Marie (Maria) Maughan of
Bridgewater, Nova Scotia.
He is proud to have surviving his daughter Sheila (Jim);
their children Jennifer and Krista, Son Kerry (Bernadette) their
children Michaela and Tyler (Faith Bruhm) children Azlyn and Koden;
son Willis his children Jeffrey and Jessica (Dylan) and their son
Avery, daughter Sandra (Hughie) their children Nancy (Jonathan) Aston
and Sarah, Amanda (Craig) their children Brianna and Drake; Karen
(Chris) their son Isaac.
Dad was predeceased by his 7 brothers Wallace, Fred, Willis,
Leaman, Clarence, Earl and Walter. His wife Jean Ruth (Burns) by 21
years and 24 days.
Dad worked in construction operating heavy machinery for
Acadia Construction, Ralph Morton Construction, and finishing his
career with the Department of Transportation. He always prided himself
with doing a job well for example on drives he would point out the
bridge joining Bush Island to the mainland, Crousetown Road, and exit
12 off the 103.
He worked very hard his whole life but he also enjoyed
hunting and fishing with his many friends and family with spirits in
hand. He told the nurses he never changed a diaper but was proud of
his children’s accomplishments and even prouder of his close
grandchildren.
This last year was a struggle for him with many trips to
Halifax for treatment which we turned into adventures. He left this
world with a sound mind and his quick wit about him, that we will
cherish in remembrance of him.
I am so thankful to have had Palliative Care to guide me and
help me keep dad home for as long as we did. Thank you Dr. Gowan, Kim
and Rochelle.
Arrangements entrusted to the R.A. Corkum Funeral Home,
Wileville. Due to Covid 19 there will be no visitation or funeral
service. A private family committal service will be
held.
Memorial donations may be made in his name to Special
Olympics Lunenburg Golf Program, The Rose Fund and Palliative Care
SSR, all are special to us.
Thank you so much everyone for your help and
kindness;
Sheila Stockman
